Olaf Paulson, M.D., DMSc., has been named a recipient of the 2013 Mayo Clinic Distinguished Alumni Award. The award honors individuals who exemplify Mayo Clinic's ideals and mission. Dr. Paulson and the two other honorees, Stephen Carmichael, Ph.D., D.Sc., and Richard DeRemee, M.D., was recognized at a private black-tie dinner at the Mayo Foundation House in Rochester on Oct. 21.

Dr. Paulson is professor of neurology at the University of Copenhagen, and a consultant in the Department of Neurology and Neurobiology Research at Copenhagen University Hospital in Rigshospitalet in Denmark. Dr. Paulson was born in Copenhagen. He received his undergraduate degree in mathematics and physics, medical degree and Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc.) degree at the University of Copenhagen. He completed a residency in neurology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester before returning to Copenhagen.
